2019 auditions have arrived!
INTERESTED IN AUDITIONING?
Current 6th to 12th graders (at the time of auditions) living in New York City or Philadelphia may audition.
Applicants may audition on one of the following instruments: guitar, bass guitar, drum set, keyboards, or vocals.
Applicants should have some experience on their instrument and be highly motivated to practice and learn new parts.
Students may audition on one instrument only. Audition on your strongest instrument. There may be opportunities to play other instruments once you are accepted.
2019 AUDITION DATES:
Philadelphia: April 5-6 at Keystone Soundworks, 4900 Longshore Avenue
New York City: April 17-18 (location TBA)
FOR REHEARSAL DATES and other FAQs check here.
Instrumentalists/vocalists will perform one song. The selection must be chosen from one of three bands (to be announced soon). Applicants will audition individually – no group auditions. Vocalists may accompany themselves, use a backing track (instrumental only – no vocal track), or sing a cappella. WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR PERFECTION: Practice and perform your selection to the best of your ability. Mistakes and simplified parts are okay! We are looking for preparation, motivation and genuine interest in improving your skills.
Instrumentalists will be asked to read a simple chord chart (not notation) and play along. Drummers will be asked to read simple rhythmic notation. If students are unfamiliar with reading chord charts/notation, they should still audition. Reading charts is NOT required to be accepted to the program.
Vocalists will be asked to sing back a series of simple notes or melodies.
We will email you (date TBA) to let you know if you are accepted to the program. Every applicant will be emailed once decisions are made. Accepted students will have 10 days to sign and return a contract before we open your slot to students on our waiting list.
